Yesterday morning I closed another chapter of Western Colorado life in preparation for my move to New Orleans. I closed the business checking account I had for Know Fun Marketing, signing off the last ties to dual existence. Yesterday I was a graphic designer/event promoter/drummer who happened to be an ordained minister. Today I’m a pastor who happens to know a little something about design, promotions, and playing the drums.
The name change to Innovation Ministries came a month ago or so. I jokingly said it was because I was tired of spelling k-n-o-w all the time. As I pray about it everyday I know it’s more about giving myself permission to see my life as God sees it, and accepting the great responsibility I have as an ordained disciple.
The work will not change at all; it was September of last year that I stopped coordinating events that had beer companies as sponsors. I will still design websites and logos for secular companies; I’m working on one now for Great Grizzly fireworks. What will change is the anonymity I had with secular companies under the old name. I love the idea that you won’t be able to do business with me now without acknowledging Christ’s role in my life. Creating my new mission and vision statements was a blessing without measure.
Our Mission:
Innovation Ministries exists to facilitate and encourage the relevant and reverent approach to introducing salvation through Jesus Christ to the human heart.
Our Vision:
While maintaining a balance between relevance and reverence Innovation Ministries will assist churches, ministries, and businesses in presenting their vision and mission to an ever-changing public. In an ongoing commitment to be Spirit led in all we do; we will seek the Lord’s direction through prayer and scripture, and ask for His attention to detail. Through the Lord’s mercy we will make an impact on plateaued and dying churches. Through the Lord’s grace we will make an impact on the business community.
I ordered the rental truck today. The big move is scheduled for August 9th. Seminary here I come!
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:20-24
